Harvard Allston Land Company
The planned Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) will be a vibrant and exciting district focused on research, enterprise, and innovation situated in a welcoming, residential and cultural hub with open space and sustainable environments at its heart. Intended to complement the vibrancy, diversity, and creativity of the Allston community, the University plans to develop the ERC in conjunction with development partners along Western Avenue’s emerging corridor of creativity and innovation, adjacent to Harvard’s academic campus spaces in Allston.
The ERC will be a center for collaboration and entrepreneurship, bringing together partners and collaborators from across greater Boston and beyond. In addition to its mix of residential and commercial spaces, as well as its public and community spaces, the ERC’s proximity to Harvard’s campus and Greater Boston’s rigorous research, education, and bio-medical ecosystem will create opportunities for intersections between academia and education, community, health, and social impact, as well as creativity and enterprise, in ways that drive progress, growth, and innovation for the entire region and beyond.
Our Work
The Harvard Allston Land Company (HALC) manages the development of Harvard’s Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) in Allston. It assists the University in selecting appropriate development partners and provides oversight on project plans approved by the City of Boston, in close collaboration and alignment with the University’s overall planning, design, and community engagement efforts.
As Harvard advances the vision for the Enterprise Research Campus, we are partnering with developers who share a commitment to fostering innovation, translational research, and collaboration between academia and industry. The campus will be shaped by values of sustainability, resilience, and the creation of dynamic public spaces that encourage connection among students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and community members. From early investment through long-term tenancy, we aim to cultivate an environment that supports breakthrough ideas and broad participation in the innovation economy.
The University’s Science and Engineering Complex, together with Harvard Business School, and the creative and innovation corridor of Western Avenue, will provide the intellectual seed capital that will attract entities to the ERC, and therefore become a vital addition – in both proximity and collaboration – to the research and teaching ecosystem at Harvard.
